April is without doubt my favorite month of the year
When the cold and grey of winter gives way to the warmth and colors of Spring
When we are vividly reminded of love and power by the cross and the empty tomb.
When I get to celebrate the gift of life, another trip around the sun.
But this April, I think for the first time ever, is quite bittersweet.
Still sweet because of Spring, Easter and the blessing of life,
But also bitter because hopes and dreams have certainly come crashing.
The valleys of life can sure feel like hitting rock bottom.
Like a rock, it is hard down here.
Down where everything is unclear and life seems unfair
Down where it is so tempting to give up... to just throw in the towel
Down where there is hardly any light at the end of the tunnel.
But Faith births hope with the dawn of every new day
Hope that God is still working even when He seems quiet and far away
Confident that we can never fall too many times for Him to pick us up again
Quite conscious that the test of our faith is never void of pain
This April, I am grateful for the memories I have made thus far
For life at the end of it all is just a collection of memories, good and bad.
I choose to make and enjoy more good, to forget the agony of the bad.
Oh my beautiful April... someday soon I will celebrate you all month long.
